Extensive archaeological excavations took place in the Schwiegershäuser Feldmark in 1993/1994. The excavations confirmed the presence of a Stone Age settlement on the area from around 5,200 BC. The site is on the municipal connection between Schwiegershausen and Uehrde, the T5 cycle path and the S2 hiking trail.

References to the settlement emerged in 1980 after two local researchers from
Schwiegershausen found prehistoric pottery shards, stone tools and large amounts of clay on a parcel of land
