The builders found what they were looking for in the City History Museum. There were old recordings so they could re-book the letters.

36 bright apartments with a size of 32 to 67 square meters were created in the two buildings connected behind their façades - barrier-free for seniors and kept in a modern design. A professional home nursing has taken over the care of the residents and the spacious communal areas on the ground floor and in the garden floor.

The building was built in 1905 by the Leipzig Art Nouveau architect Fritz Drechsler. From the builder who at the same time pushed ahead with the largest project in the then independent community - the construction of the town hall Schönefeld. Until the end of the GDR, the Schönefelder could pick up their parcels and letters and send them there. With the turnaround also the era of the post office came to an end, in the meantime offices were accommodated therein. But in recent years, the aging building has been empty.
