Vaellus
The Bismarck Tower, a landmark of Langenberg, was built at the beginning of the 20th century from mighty quarry stone blocks. The almost 30 meter high tower is located in the immediate vicinity of the Waldkletterpark, one of the most beautiful climbing parks in North Rhine-Westphalia.

At that time – around the time of the transition from the 19th to the 20th century – there was lively interest in many places in Germany in honouring the Chancellor OTTO von BISMARCK (* 1815 to + 1898, the first Chancellor of the German Empire from 1871, previously Prime Minister of Prussia and Chancellor of the North German Confederation) with a monument. But only in very few cases was a statue made and erected of him as a person. Sometimes they were pyramid-like structures, but often – as here – real (observation) towers were built and named after Bismarck.
