If the legend is to be believed, there is actually something spooky about the witch pond. It is said that witches were unmasked there in the Middle Ages. As a test, they tied them up, threw them into the pond and waited to see if they drowned or floated up. If they swam to the surface after being thrown into the water, they were identified as witches and then burned. Otherwise they were innocent, but that also meant they were dead... by drowning. Whether true or not: a story to fear that you can tell others here very nicely.
