For the first 3 stages Loes, Giel, Ria and I spent the night in a hotel in Groningen. We walked the first stage of 12 km on May 25, 2017. This 3rd stage of 21 km hiked on May 27, 2017 from Groningen to Zuidlaren. And return via public transport to Groningen, and here too the bus connection was a perfect match for our trip.

Zuidlaren - Rolde, stage 4, 9/26/2017:

Rolde - Schoonloo, 5th stage, 9/27/2017:

We got up early in the morning and got into the car with the four of us (that was still possible, even without a mask). All hiking and overnight gear with us for the overnight stay in B&B Onder de Eiken. Arrived around 9.30 am and parked at the B&B, from there we left under beautiful weather conditions… Leer más

We were awakened in time by a bright sun, so that boded well for our 7th stage.

But first we enjoyed a hearty breakfast in our B&B, so that we could handle it for a few more hours. We packed our bags and put them in the car, so we could leave immediately afterwards. The weather was fine, belly full, good… Leer más

The 8th stage of the Pieterpad (Coevorden-Hardenberg) was little different than the previous one. With the 4 of us in the car to Hardenberg. This was our intermediate station where we stayed at Stadsherberg 't Klepperhuus, run by the mentally handicapped and oh so cozy.

August 26, we woke up after a good night's sleep in 't Klepperhuus. Breakfast was already prepared by the staff (they were still in bed because of the party evening in Hardenberg). But it tasted fine. Our bellies full, walking shoes on, backpack on and off we went to Ommen again. And again we were lucky… Leer más

Stage 10: Ommen-Hellendoorn.

It is still too far to drive the Pieterpad stages without an overnight stay. Not that this is a bad thing, because we still have fun with the 4 of us! So this time we arranged a B&B overnight stay in Hellendoorn. We were lucky, it was the last year that our hostess was running… Leer más

Stage 11: Hellendoorn-Holten.

Stage 12: Holten-Laren.

Left early for our 12th and 13th stage. Overnight in B&B in Laren. We were already in November, so it was getting a bit chilly for a walk, it was not shorts weather. But most importantly…. Dry weather and lots of walking fun on a tour where we again had a lot to see and we encountered… Leer más

Stage 13: Laren-Vorden.

After a good breakfast we packed our things and put them in the car. After this, dressed nice and warm, it is November after all, and again on the road through a nature with beautiful autumn colors.

The Pieterpad was officially opened at Vorden Castle in 1983. Here is also the monument… Leer más
