Strausberger Platz with its two towers marks the beginning of the GDR boulevard Karl-Marx-Allee and its buildings in the sugar confectionery style. GDR's star architect Hermann Henselmann, who had also designed the distinctive towers of the Frankfurt Gate in the course of the Karl-Marx-Allee, had planned the course.
