Access to the inner courtyard and the foyer as well as the small bistro to the right of the stairs is free of charge or without a library card. We highly recommend the 360° tour on the State Library website at: staatsbibliothek-berlin.de/rundgang-sbb/udl.html

The Berlin State Library (SBB for short) is an institution of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation and the largest scientific universal library in Germany.
Founded in 1661 by the Brandenburg Elector Friedrich Wilhelm, it collects literature from all scientific fields, languages and countries.
The traditional successor to the Prussian State Library has two main buildings, the Unter den Linden building and the Potsdamer Straße building.
With a stock of more than 25 million works, it is one of the largest libraries in Germany and the most important in the world.
