No fortress, and no mountain either - ruins of the Basilica of St. Stefanos. A beautiful place with culture and history, with a beach and a great view of the islet of Kastri, which you can swim to or take a pedal boat to.

In 1932, along the south coast of Kos, the Agios Stéfanos Basilica was uncovered by Italian archaeologists. The ruin stands on rocks directly on the coast and is now almost one whole with the Agios Stéfanos beach. The combination of sandy beach with ruin has created one of the nicer places on Kos for swimming.
