    The Gothic Saint Stephen's Church in Brussegem (Merchtem) dates from the 16th-17th century. The church was built in sandstone on a slope delimited by a cemetery wall. The church building consists of a square western tower, a three-aisled nave of three bays, two lower protruding cross arms and a choir with three-sided apse. In 1976 the church was protected as a monument.
