Located on the edge of the banks of the Célé, the Saint-Sauveur abbey was at the origin of the birth of the town. The first nucleus of population formed around it.

The Saint-Sauveur church was consecrated in 1092 and was formerly part of an abbey. The special thing is that despite the addition of side chapels in the 14th century and destruction during the Hundred Years' War and the Wars of Religion, the original plan was largely preserved.
We visited the church as part of a city tour and were very impressed (komoot.de/tour/41387460).

The plan is that of a Romanesque pilgrimage church with a ambulatory that allows to circulate through the building, to see the relics of various saints and to pray. The proportions are balanced: the width of the nave is seven meters, the collaterals are four meters wide, the length of the nave is sixty-two meters, and the height of the closed nave is twenty-one meters.
