The imposing Ghibelline battlement structure, perhaps of Lombard origin, stands isolated in the hills not far from Lake Garda.
The building has a square plan with two corner towers, stands on a high escarpment wall and is surrounded by perimeter walls within which stands the 12th century church of San Michele.
It was a property of the Vimercati family of Milan until 1436 when it passed to the Averoldi family of Brescia and kept the property until 1935, when it passed into the possession of the Lanciani Rocca family. It is now owned by the Barons Lanni della Quara

In 1979 Baron Lando Lanni Della Quara, a nobleman residing in the Castello di Drugolo, founded the "DDD - La Drougheria di Drugolo" an Italian record label: he contracted some important Italian songwriters including Enzo Jannacci, Fausto Leali, Jo Squillo, Mia Martini, Fiorella Mannoia and groups such as Le Orme and Rondò Veneziano. Until 1983 the label was distributed by the Italian RCA and was also the first record company under which Eros Ramazzotti recorded. In 1989 Baron Lando Lanni Della Quara left the office of sole administrator and sold 50% of the shares to BMG (extract from it.wikipedia.org)
