Val-d'Isère is a picturesque little high mountain village nestled in the foothills of the Vanoise massif.
Long sidelined, the village experienced the development of skiing and its resort in the 1930s. Its ski area is now coupled with that of Tignes under the name "Espace Killy" or "Val-d'Isère Tignes".
In its historic center, the old stones and the slate roofs give the village all its authenticity. In the suburbs, the many hotels and restaurants testify to its economic development.

As a place, Val-d’Isère is only worth seeing in the very small part of the old town. Too many hotels and many shops.
Nice campsite outside.
