Rahden Castle ruins, once a moated castle with a mighty moat, look back on over 570 years of history, and their remaining walls hint at the former grandeur of the complex. Here you can discover parts of the former castle as well as the well-preserved coat of arms of the von dem Bussche family, who played a significant role in the late 14th century. Nestled in the charming landscape of the Minden-Lübbecke district, the historic ruins invite you to a fascinating break amidst nature and the past.

Originally built as a moated castle, it is one of the oldest remains of medieval architecture in the region and boasts a rich history dating back more than 570 years. Once an imposing structure, several remnants still bear witness to the former grandeur of this castle complex.

A former moated castle over 600 years old, located near the Große Aue river; heavily contested, especially during the Thirty Years' War. After a fire in 1878/79, only the outer walls of the main building remain today.

Great location, beautiful beer garden and great service

The museum farm is a fully furnished farmstead with all its tools and outbuildings, reflecting the way of life in the 19th century. Upon request, museum education programs such as baking, indigo dyeing, beekeeping, spinning, and weaving are offered for groups. Several times a year, on Sundays and public holidays, milling and baking days take place on the grounds. On these days, the horse mill is in operation, bread and cakes are baked in the old 16th-century stone oven, and traditional farming and craft techniques are demonstrated.
