Gaming Charterhouse is the former Carthusian monastery "Marienthron," founded in 1330 by Duke Albrecht I. It was once the largest Carthusian monastery in Central Europe. After its dissolution in the 18th century, the complex was used for a variety of purposes and later extensively restored. Today, it serves as a hotel, event venue, educational center, and cultural destination with restaurants and accommodations. Its impressive architecture and tranquil atmosphere make it a popular destination for visitors. For cyclists, the Charterhouse is a worthwhile stop: it is situated amidst a charming mountain and valley landscape and is easily accessible via regional cycle paths. The inviting beer garden is perfect for a break during your tour.

It is one of the most beautiful karst springs in the Ötscher area. Their catchment area is the northern part of the Schwarzenberg (confirmed by coloring tests by HS Gaming in 1994). The water has a constant temperature of +7C° in summer and winter. The stream that has its source in this source is called the Schwarzenbach. According to tradition, the spring was named after Hermine, the wife of a Rothschild head forester around 1900.
