The Andreas Maurer Bridge is a striking structure for all those traveling on the Danube Cycle Path (R1). It is not only an important traffic artery but also a strategic point for cyclists in eastern Austria. The bridge spans the Danube near Bad Deutsch-Altenburg and connects the south bank (Bruck an der Leitha district) with the north bank (near Stopfenreuth, Gänserndorf district).

The Otto Wagner Court Pavilion in Hietzing was built in 1898/1899 by the architect Otto Wagner and is a significant example of Viennese architecture from the turn of the century. It was constructed in connection with the Vienna City Railway and originally served as a prestigious waiting and reception pavilion for Emperor Franz Joseph I, located in the immediate vicinity of Schönbrunn Palace. The building is distinguished by its elegant design and elaborate Art Nouveau interior, which met the high standards of the imperial court. Although the pavilion was only rarely used by the emperor, it is an impressive testament to the combination of functionality and artistic ambition. Following extensive restoration, the Court Pavilion is now part of the Vienna Museum and offers insights into the architecture and transportation history of Vienna around 1900.

Klosterneuburg Abbey is an Augustinian Canons Regular monastery with over 900 years of history, founded in 1114 by Margrave Leopold III, later canonized as the patron saint of Austria. It served as a residence of the Babenberg and Habsburg dynasties and played a significant role in the country's development. Today, the abbey is a center for religion, culture, and scholarship, where nearly fifty canons, together with numerous staff members, preserve the monastery's heritage. Among its most important sights are the Verdun Altar, the Austrian Archduke's Hat, the Sala Terrena, the Imperial Apartments, the Abbey Museum, the Abbey Church with its magnificent organ, and the largest private library in Austria. Klosterneuburg Abbey combines lived faith with unique cultural treasures, offering a fascinating blend of history, art, and spirituality.

A very nice descent from Eilandberg to Sieghartskirchen. A pleasant gradient, even uphill, allows for a quick ride.

Since the bypass opened, the road here has been relatively quiet. It's a shame, though, for those residents whose homes had to be demolished...

The Schemerl Bridge is a historic bridge near the Nussdorf Weir, designed by Otto Wagner. It combines functionality with Art Nouveau architecture and offers a magnificent view of the Danube and Danube Canal—guarded by two striking bronze lions. 🦁🌉
