The triple border is at the mouth of the Rio Iguaçu into the Río Paraná not far from the Iguazú Falls. The Triple Frontera is therefore in the middle of the Acuífero Guaranís. There are three main viewpoints on the primary Kandu route. I have numbered these 1 - 3. This one is No 1, and is just before the summit. This one has a couple of benches and a good view down over the surrounding countryside. There is also a small raised hut here that one could bivy down in overnight if need be.

This section consists of quite steep terrain that ranges between 40-55% in places. There is no exposure but the route does go up quite vertical along a series of badly constructed wooden steps or ladders with shaky wooden handrails in places, if any. There are also a series of knotted ropes or thin metal cables to assist you as handrails. Gloves would be advantageous so do bring them. This is particularly so if it has rained. Even as an old fart I found it all fun and didn't use any gloves. Then I was too busy concentrating on the snakes...did I mention the snakes?

The ascent on ropes gets to the substance. A nearby Strülleken offers occasional refreshment. It is also very nice to hear its splashing during the ascent.

At Hitos Tres Fronteras you can see Argentina, Puerto Iguazu, the bordering countries of Brazil and Paraguay. Here the rivers Iguazú and Paraná flow together. Both rivers mark the borders between the three countries. The watercourses include the cultures of the sister cities of Ciudad del Este, Foz do Iguaçu and Puerto Iguazú. Especially in the evening at sunset, people cavort here to enjoy the view of the colorful lights around the rivers.
