The Žilina Reservoir has also become a popular recreational spot in Žilina. It is easily accessible by car or public transport. Visitor parking is located on the right side of the reservoir. This part of the project includes numerous sports facilities open to the public, such as a skatepark, beach volleyball court, children's trampoline, lockers for roller skaters and volleyball players, and a God Mat boat rental. In summer, the area also offers favorable conditions for numerous water sports. A cycling trail runs through here, leading from Budatín through Varín to Strečno.

The Žilina Dam was built primarily for electricity generation and to supply industrial plants in Žilina with process water. The water depth is approximately 2 m where the Váh River flows into the reservoir, 10 m in the middle at the pedestrian bridge between the municipalities of Mojš and Mojšová Lúčka, and approximately 18 m at the Žilina dam. Liptovská Mara is the largest water reservoir in Slovakia, located in the Liptovská Basin, between the Tatras and the Low Tatras. Orava Castle is one of the most beautifully situated castles in Slovakia – it rises on a steep cliff above the Orava River, in the village of Oravský Podzámok. It consists of three levels of buildings, which were built from the 13th century and today create a picturesque complex with courtyards, towers and a chapel. Inside, there is a museum presenting the history of the region, the castle and old life in Orava. You can get there by bike from the main road no. 59 – it is worth being careful due to car traffic. The tour takes some time and is best booked in advance.
