“Death is not the end, but only a very specific end: namely, the end of a first, provisional period of life and the beginning of a new, unending epoch. Jesus said, ‘My kingdom is not of this world.’ So there is another world. Not only his disciples believed in this other world, but also his opponents. The lawyer, for example, asked him what he must do ‘to inherit eternal life.’ (…) Precisely because it lasts forever, this life is so precious that everything else in the present world pales in comparison.” (Text by Albino Luciani / Pope John Paul I)

Lake Corlo is crossed by 3 bridges close together, at the Rocca d'Arsiè bottleneck: the Polo Bridge, the Bassane Bridge and the Vittoria Bridge. The Ponte della Vittoria (also called Ponte delle Corde) is the southernmost bridge, as well as the most evocative and characteristic: cycle-pedestrian, with a maximum capacity of 12 people (as per the sign), and consists of a wooden walkway supported by ropes metal, fixed to stone towers; although it is absolutely safe, you feel a wobble at every step and under your feet, between the cracks in the boards, you can glimpse emptiness and water! Crossing it, some might suffer from dizziness... It was built in 1928, before the artificial lake was created, to replace an old, much lower bridge, often submerged by the floods of the Cismon torrent; dedicated to the victory of the First World War.

Barenthal British Cemetery: 125 Allied soldiers buried there, nine of whom are unidentified. One of five British cemeteries from the Great War located on the Asiago Plateau, established shortly after the end of the conflict. They hold a total of 1,024 fallen soldiers: Boscon, Barenthal, Cavalletto, Granezza, and Magnaboschi. The land on which they stand was donated by Italy to Great Britain, effectively making them extraterritorial entities. Protected by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, which maintains and ensures their preservation, the soldiers' remains were never returned to their homeland but left at the site of their sacrifice, by express wish of the British Empire. https://www.cwgc.org/visit-us/find-cemeteries-memorials/cemetery-details/69800/barenthal-military-cemetery/
