The first historical records of this oratory date back to 1289. This oratory is dedicated to Saint Zeno, bishop of Verona from 362 to 371 AD. The life of this saint is shrouded in legend, and it seems he was originally from Mauritania, which is why he was also known as "the Moorish bishop." According to historical sources, he lived a life of austerity and simplicity, and since he caught fish for his own food in the Adige River, he is considered the protector of freshwater fishermen. In iconography, he is depicted with a crosier and a fish. The presence of fish in the Sequals marshes likely prompted the founder of this church to name it after Saint Zeno.

The castle of Solimbergo is an ancient manor. The first traces date back to the Romanesque era. It was a defensive bastion thanks to its strategic position.

Beautiful

Well-preserved and restored castle ruins. The driveway initially goes through the forest, towards the end there is a typically 50-meter-long, steep concrete section in a bend. Once you reach the ruins, you have a beautiful view of Solimbergo, the plain, the Meduno river and as far as Maniago.

This bridge offers a beautiful view of the Meduna River and the mountains in the distance. The bridge itself is also quite beautiful to admire from afar in the landscape. Since the river is normally dry and is also used by military vehicles for exercises, you can wade across it or even walk along it. You can go down to the riverbed from Sequals, along via Odorico Odorico. Once at the bottom, the view of the bridge and the mountains becomes even more suggestive. However, be careful: a few kilometers upstream from the bridge there is a dam that could be opened suddenly.

In 1196, the bishop of Concordia Romulus entrusted Almerico of the lords of Castelnuovo with the completion of the castle of Sonemberg (Solimbergo). Later it belonged to the lords of Flagogna and from these, in 1384, it passed definitively to the lords of Spilimbergo. The road that deviates from the asphalted Sequals - Solimbergo is gravel, easy and fairly smooth. The castle is worth a visit both for its historical structures, the tower stands out imperiously and for the surrounding landscape.
