A rather interesting fish ladder on the Sude River

The inland dune, which is also wandering, is one of the largest of its kind in Germany. In addition to the dune itself, you can also enjoy the wonderful panorama of the heath from the hill.

Definitely worth checking out. Very nice spot to pause and enjoy, this dune in the middle of the forest.

Hagenow Land station is a railway junction in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania that was put into operation on October 15, 1846. It is located about two and a half kilometers southeast of the center of the small town of Hagenow along the parallel Eisenbahnerstraße. The listed train station is unfortunately a bit “out of date” and could do with some restoration. The suffix “Land” in the official station name indicates, on the one hand, the location outside the town, and on the other hand, it serves to distinguish it from the “Hagenow Stadt” train station, which is 3.5 kilometers away in the center of the city. The station reception building has a two-story central section with three-story, larger wings on both sides. Stylistically, it stands out from the simple straight lines of most other historical buildings on the Berlin-Hamburg Railway thanks to the consistent use of round arches. In the southwest of the building there is a low-rise building in which the commission room and the princely lounges, the so-called waiting rooms for high nobles, were located. A “princely chair” with an imperial branding has been preserved from the furnishings; it was installed in the rooms before 1876. The listed old cinema in Hagenstraße in Hagenow was built in the style of the expressionist architecture of the 1930s. A bowling center is currently located there.

There are two train stations in Hagenow. Hagenow city and Hagenow country. Both stations have seen much better days and are in urgent need of extensive restoration. The train station in the center of Hagenow was built in 1894 with the name “Hagenow” and has been listed as “Hagenow Stadt” in the official timetables since 2010. It consists of a small reception building with catering facilities and a long shed attached to the southern side that was used for freight traffic. At the back of the building facing the city is the house platform and another island platform for the two-track system. Between the city train station and the single-track junction from the line to Schwerin, the track system is expanded in two places to four to five parallel tracks, which are no longer used. The listed building was formerly the seat of the Hagenow district administration and was built in 1928/29. It is an outstanding example of Expressionist architectural design and construction in Mecklenburg during the late 1920s. The Expressionist stylistic elements on the facade are particularly striking, including the centrally located open staircase with its dominant, artificial stone-decorated entrance portal and the ornamental oriel window above. The hipped roof, covered with tiles, is crowned by a richly ornamented brick tower with a sphere finial on its central axis. The building was designed by the Schwerin-based architect Aal Bentrup. It was renovated and restored in 1992.
