Magnificent view from the Meisenbühl (797 m above sea level) of the Roßberg with its tower, the Bolberg (880 m), the highest point in the Reutlingen district, and the unique flora and fauna of the Filsenberg nature reserve in Mössingen-Öschingen, Tübingen district.

On the freely accessible summit (880 m) is the Willmandinger Albvereinshütte, a shelter with a fire pit. In good weather, there are excellent panoramic views, southwards to the Alps and northwards to the Stuttgart TV tower. An orientation panel at the viewpoint identifies the mountains and towns in the distance.

The Filsenberg (805.4 m above sea level) is a mountain in the Swabian Alb south of Öschingen, a district of Mössingen in Baden-Württemberg. Parts of the mountain are a nature reserve. The dry meadow on the treeless Filsenberg plateau has been a protected nature reserve since 1983 due to the rare plants growing there (orchids, cat's-foot, martagon lilies, gentians, etc.). The 35.8-hectare Filsenberg nature reserve is part of the Middle Swabian Alb natural region. Dry grasslands, matgrass meadows, and fringe communities characterize the landscape. The purpose of the reserve is to preserve the high meadows with their diverse flora and fauna while largely avoiding the application of fertilizers and nutrient inputs. Landslide “Mössingen-Öschingen” (Landhaussiedlung) Following prolonged heavy rainfall, especially from May 31, 2013 to June 2, 2013, with up to 160 mm of precipitation, and unusually wet preceding months, a landslide occurred on Sunday, June 2, 2013, at approximately 8:00 p.m. on the edge of the Swabian Alps in the Mössingen-Öschingen district, below the Roßberg mountain in the Dachslochberg and Roßstaig areas. (In analogy to previous usage in connection with the “Mössingen-Öschingen” event, the term landslide will continue to be used. By definition, it is a landslide.) Approximately half a million cubic meters of soil and rock masses moved downhill over an area of more than nine hectares, covering a length of about 500 m and a width of up to 300 m. The depth of the sliding surfaces varies, according to the findings of the boreholes, from a few meters to 17 meters below the ground surface (averaging 7–10 meters). In the erosion zone (landslide), the upper third of the landslide, the ground surface is now up to 13 meters lower than the former slope surface. In contrast, in the deposition zone (landslide), the lower two-thirds of the landslide, the slid soil and rock masses have accumulated up to 10 meters above the original ground surface. This event is understood as the reactivation of a landslide movement that likely occurred centuries or even millennia ago.
