The Sambaqui petroglyphs are pre-Columbian rock engravings in the northern area of Florianópolis, at Ponta do Sambaqui. Made by Sambaqui people 4,000 to 6,000 years ago, they show geometric, zoomorphic, and anthropomorphic motifs in diabase exposed by the tide. They are part of archaeological sites with sambaquis and lithic workshops, the oldest heritage on the island.
