A special small fern, the slaty fern, thrives in the crevices of the rock outcrops. Finding it requires a keen eye and patience - did you succeed? Near the edge of the cliff, there are small treeless patches where beautiful rock and meadow flowers grow. Please avoid trampling them! The bellflower and meadow pansy delight with their colorful spots almost all summer long. The critically endangered mountain monk grows on the shelves of the cliff. It blooms in late summer and is easy to recognize by its hemispherical blue inflorescences. Cottongrass and liverwort are important food plants for butterflies - including the larvae of the endangered rock bluewing found on Rautvuori.
