The Tombeau du Géant is a hill formed by a meander of the Semois River. The hill is located on the left bank of the Semois, a few kilometers downstream from Bouillon. The Tombeau du Géant, a listed Natural Monument, is one of the most famous and most photographed locations in the Belgian Ardennes and the Semois Valley. The most popular viewpoint is near the village of Botassart, about 450 meters as the crow flies from the Semois and about 140 meters above the river. The first observation tower on the Côte d’Auclin dates back to 1923. A new structure was inaugurated in 2001. The tower stands on a 150m³ concrete base. It has eight floors supported by four wooden pillars surrounded by iron, with a total height of 31.60 m (385 m altitude, or 180 m above the Semois). (InspiRoute)

The pontoon bridges over the Semois are installed around April/May each year and disappear around September/October. Useful to know when planning your walk whether the bridges are available or not.

Magnificent estate of 1721 hectares Located north of Lacuisine and west of Chiny, it belongs to the CPAS of the city of Mons, which inherited it in 1887. This sublime estate includes 1,500 hectares of forests and four artificial ponds fed by several streams, including the Tamij-Austria, a tributary of the Semois. The ponds of the Epioux are the last witnesses of the important metallurgical past of our region. Indeed, for more than three centuries, the estate experienced intense metallurgical activity. Since the end of this industrial activity, the only profitable economic activity has been that of forest production. Today, the large forest of the Epioux is a magnificent forest. Several beautiful walks cross the estate.
