Don't be confused. Just drive past the paid parking lot on the left. The free parking lot is even closer to the start of the hike.

Here, there's a river crossing, practically at the foot or outflow of the lake, which is easy to manage further upstream, as it's very shallow. Further down, there's a very strong current and deep water. Furthermore, there's an excellent campsite with a seating area right on the lake, which is impressively situated with its dead forest at the back of the lake and the Andes as a backdrop. And last but not least, there's a rowboat you can use to row out onto the lake...

If you drive past the paid parking lot on the left, after one hundred and fifty meters you will reach the free beach directly on the lake.

There are several free hiking trails in Pumalin National Park. A beautiful one-hour hike is the Sendero de Alerces, just 13 kilometers from this pier, to huge old trees. Be sure to take a break here. The circular hike only takes about 40 minutes.

A really nice trek on a rocky path from the start all the way up to the end. When we arrived at the top and start to slowly go down to the lake, we were walking and black sand and eventhough we are isolated, tête some small abandoned house and even a church ! Colors are amazing up there with mountains, snow (in November), the vegetation very dense! We were really amazed by the final spot and the feeling of being priviledged to be here!
