At the three borders, from Schengen, view of Remerschen and its ponds. Its ponds are an important stopover for birds migrating from northern Europe to Africa and vice versa. The origins of the “Baggerweieren” can be found in the 1950s/1960s, when work in the local sand pits was stopped and the resulting pools filled with water from underground sources. In 2020, the municipality of Schengen, owner of the site, entrusted the management and operation of the recreation area to the “Erliefnis Baggerweier” association. Swimming, sunbathing, walking, dining, just a few of the offers to suit the personal needs of visitors. A beach area is reserved for dog owners and their four-legged friends, and rowing boats can be rented. The facility is open from May 1st to September 15th from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and, weather permitting, until 8 p.m.
