A water tower with a fascinating charm.

The Ernst Thälmann Monument in Stralsund is a striking, deliberately designed memorial from the time of the GDR.

Very delicious food and superb service! The restaurant was busting with customers on a Saturday late afternoon until late into the night. They served us ouzo as we ordered our drinks but this was way too strong for me. I got an espresso at the end instead. They also informed us as we ordered that they only accepted cash. That was helpful as we hardly carry enough cash with us. There is a carpark next to the restaurant so getting there is quite convenient.

A small café, delicious cakes, coffee, hot chocolate, even with oat milk, many of which are organic. Inside, there's a small shop. The owners are friendly and engaging, open to questions, offer suggestions, and, if business allows, even a chat. A visit during the season is a must.

If you're coming from the other direction, that probably won't happen. But when you get to the sign, you'll know why it doesn't go any further. Maybe the navigation system's "Else" was just too slow.

The Barth Water Tower at Sundische Straße 78 was put into operation on December 22, 1926. The water tower has not been used since 1974.
