Veten, at 486 meters, is the highest peak in Åsane and a favorite hiking destination on the northern tip of Bergen’s peninsula. The summit is marked by a large cairn and offers panoramic views of other Bergen mountains and the Nordhordland and Osterøy regions. Trails are well-marked and connect to historic routes like the old Trondhjemske Postvei, adding cultural interest to the hike. The walk provides outstanding 360° vistas, making it a rewarding spot for nature lovers and photographers alike.

The path was only (extended or) rebuilt a few years ago. Most of the path is over stone steps of varying heights. If you have knee problems, this path becomes torture. Apparently, it's a popular Sunday outing for Norwegians: a quick run up and down. For me, the path had nothing to do with hiking. It was simply climbing stairs.

At this point, you can show off your athleticism, as countless steps await you before you reach the top. You'll enjoy beautiful views of the mountains at every turn. There are also small coves with seating areas where you can relax. Once you reach the top, you'll receive a reward telling you how many steps you've climbed.

The journey from Bergen city center to the upper station of the Fløibanen cable car takes about 5-6 minutes. There are three stops along the way: Promsgate, Fjellveien, and Skansemyren. The viewpoint on Fløyen is 320 meters above sea level and offers a magnificent view of Bergen. Source: stromma.com A round-trip ticket can be booked. (200 NKr per adult) However, only the outward journey and a short walk back to Bergen are attractive.

You can take the train up and go on a few nice hikes up there. They are all very well signposted. Of course you can also walk to the station. The path is also very nice to walk.
