Ολόκληρη η περιοχή, έκτασης 86 εκταρίων, ανήκει στον δήμο του Kortrijk και διαχειρίζεται επίσης από τον δήμο. Βρίσκεται στο υψηλότερο σημείο του Kortrijk. Το ίδιο το αστικό πράσινο Marionetten είναι 57 εκτάρια. Η φυσική περιοχή αναπτύχθηκε από το 1996 στα πρώην οικόπεδα της εταιρείας nv Dakpannenfabriek Pottelberg, η οποία έλαβε το 1950 άδεια εξόρυξης καφέ και μπλε αργίλου. Μετά τη διακοπή της εξόρυξης αργίλου, το λάκκο τον γέμισαν με απορρίμματα. Το 1996, ο λάκκος καλύφθηκε και στη συνέχεια διαμορφώθηκε σε φυσική περιοχή. Ο μη γεμισμένος λάκκος αργίλου σχηματίζει τη λίμνη. Από το 2008, αυτό το τμήμα αποτελεί το κεντρικό τμήμα του αστικού πρασίνου Marionetten: μεταξύ της οδού Canaertstraat και της οδού Bosstraat. Εκπονήθηκε Σχέδιο Ολοκληρωμένης Χωρικής Ανάπτυξης (RUP) για ολόκληρη την περιοχή (86 εκτάρια) και καταρτίστηκε ένα σχέδιο υλοποίησης που εκτελέστηκε βήμα προς βήμα και ολοκληρώθηκε το 2004. Μέχρι σήμερα, το αστικό πράσινο Marionetten δεν έχει αποκτηθεί πλήρως, καθώς τμήματα πρέπει ακόμη να αγοραστούν ή υπόκεινται σε αγροτική μίσθωση. Η προηγούμενη ιστορία της περιοχής προκαλεί τώρα διαφορές στο υψόμετρο. Στο υψηλότερο σημείο βρίσκεται η μεγάλη «Libel» (η λιβελούλα) με πληροφορίες για την περιοχή, την πανίδα και τη χλωρίδα. The Bergelen Provincial Estate in Wevelgem developed around a 10-hectare artificial sand extraction pit. The sand was used for the construction of the E403 (A17) motorway in the early 1970s. The municipality purchased this pit and surrounding land between 1989 and 1995. Various planting activities and numerous management works (reprofiling the banks, creating a water berm, building observation huts and walls, creating walking paths, constructing a bat shelter, digging ponds, etc.) were carried out by the municipal council. This created a small but very interesting nature reserve. In 1996, the farm and the 29 hectares of surrounding agricultural land were purchased by the province, and large parts of the newly acquired area were afforested. In 1999, the province entered into a lease with the municipality for the management of the Bergelen pit and its surroundings. This created the Bergelen Provincial Estate, which currently covers an area of 47 hectares. The Heulebeek stream flows along and through the estate, still following a largely natural course there. You'll also find the Bulskamphoeve, first mentioned in Gullegem in 1549. It's a historic farmstead whose horseshoe-shaped buildings are situated within the ramparts. The farmstead was destroyed several times during wartime and subsequently rebuilt or renovated. The current building is believed to date from 1775. Since 1654, the castle domain, located along the Kasteelstraat in Lozer, has been owned by the della Faille d’Huysse family. The beautiful castle was called ‘’t Goed Uplosere’ in the 17th century. The block-shaped castle acquired its current neoclassical appearance during renovations in the 18th century. From the Kasteelstraat you can see the symmetrical rear facade. From the Appelhoekstraat you have a view of the front facade. The 19th century park in English landscape style consists of ponds, winding paths, bridges and appurtenances such as a walled vegetable garden, caretaker’s house, dog kennel, coach house, tower-shaped garden pavilion, farmyard and gatehouse. From the castle domain, a double avenue leads to the O.-L.-Vrouw van Bijstandkerk.
