Originally a castle of the Livonian Order, later a castle of the Diocese of Courland. It was part of a chain of castles from Hasenpoth Castle to Amboten Castle. The castle was 10-15 metres high and was located on the right bank of the Vaipa River, which made access from the south difficult. Neuhausen was a camp fort typical of Courland, measuring 61 metres square. Remains of a courtyard wall and cellar depressions have been preserved in front of the south-east wall. Like all Courland camp forts, Neuhausen was a simple functional building, mainly made of fieldstone. Today the remains are being renovated and made accessible to visitors.
