Beautiful old town.

In 2011 the library moved to the Globus building, a former department store. The premises had to be converted to suit their needs and so a new glass facade was combined with the original Corten steel panels and one of the most beautiful libraries in Slovenia was created. Not only the exterior but also the interior of the municipal library is extraordinary. From the ground floor to the second floor, the spaces are well thought out and organized depending on the activity to which they are dedicated. The book collection is wide-ranging and suitable for all ages, but there is also a large number of films and lots of music. A variety of cultural and informative events also take place here. Beautiful old town with many restaurants and refreshment stops. Parking spaces are available around the old town for a fee.

A new congress center in the middle of the castle park serves as a “protocol facility” for the Government of the Republic of Slovenia, where important international conferences take place. For example, the castle hosted the IV Alpine Conference in 1996. Today's Brdo Castle was built around 1510 by the Carniola nobleman Georg (Jurij) Egkh, the general administrator of the Habsburg possessions in the Duchy of Carniola. It was originally built in the Renaissance style but has been remodeled many times since then. In the 18th century the Zois family acquired the castle and it remained in their possession until 1928 (see: Michelangelo von Zois). Subsequently, among others, resided there the Yugoslav royal family. After the communist seizure of power in Yugoslavia in 1945, the castle was confiscated and from then on served as a summer residence for Josip Broz Tito, prime minister until 1953 and then president until his death. After Tito's death in 1980, the property became the property of the Socialist Republic of Slovenia and, after Slovenia's declaration of independence on June 25, 1991, it became the property of this new state. @Wikipedia
