The refuge is well-situated just before the summit ridge of Aorai, at around 1800m. It's a large room with a small table where, unfortunately, people have left their rubbish. Outside, there are tanks that fill with rainwater for drinking. There must have been a lot of food waste because one or more mice live around the refuge and can get in through a hole they've dug at the bottom of the door. So be sure to seal it up at night to prevent them from getting in, for example, with a broom that fits snugly into the hole. Otherwise, they'll steal the food.
