Campismos - Simple accommodations for nature lovers There are no campsites in Cuba as we know them from the European area. Camping and sleeping in caravans are not very common in Cuba, and there is no infrastructure for that. But there are so-called "Campismos" all over the country, small hamlet villages with different and usually very simple comfort. Most of them are managed by the Cuban agency Cubamar and originally served mainly national tourism. However, about 15 of them have been bookable for international tourism in the last 20 years and most of these sites are very scenic.

El Guafe is an approximately 2 km long archaeological nature trail. An underground river created 20 large caves here. In one there is the famous "Idolo del Agua", a face carved by Taíno Indians in stalagmites. Of the 180 different species of birds and orchids advertised there was unfortunately nothing to see, but the "Cactus Gigante", a 500-year-old cactus - the oldest in Cuba.

In December 1956, Fidel Castro, Che Guevara and another 80 revolutionaries landed with the yacht Granma in the bay of Playa Las Coloradas to overthrow the Batista dictatorship. A replica of this ship can be seen in original size, as well as a small museum. The original Granma is located in the Revolution Museum in Havana.

The Desembarco del Granma National Park was added to the World Heritage List of UNESCO in 1999 as a globally representative example of geomorphological and physiographic phenomena (landscape and natural space). Here on December 2, 1956, the landing of the revolutionaries around Fidel Castro with the yacht Granma took place and ushered in the revolution in Cuba.
