The volunteer firefighters of Świerczyniec celebrated their 160th anniversary on July 9, 2017. The first mention of the local fire department was in 1857. The Pszczyna archives contain a note about an inspection of firefighting equipment in the Świerczyniec commune. At that time, a hand-held fire engine was located at Jedlina Manor. Nine years later, the Duke of Pszczyna built and equipped a fire station in Świerczyniec. The hand-held fire engine, with its horse-drawn carriage, served the firefighters until 1957. One of the first commanders was Augustyn Kłyk. Records from those early years are scarce. Word of mouth records indicate that Świerczyniec firefighters extinguished two major fires: one at the church in Bojszów and one at the buildings in Cielmice.

The water tower at the ERG plastics plant (originally the "Lignoza" explosives factory) was built in 1926. Previously, the factory drew water from the nearby Mleczna River, but after the construction of a polluting paper mill, it became necessary to switch to deep wells. It is a 25-meter-high structure made of reinforced concrete. Atop the tower is a water tank with a capacity of 1,000 cubic meters.
