The Heustadlwasser is located in the middle of the green Prater in Vienna. It is a former side arm of the Danube, which flows around a frequently flooded wetland area, the Krieau, from the Messe Wien to the Lusthaus as an island. A hay barn was built on this "island" for feeding wild animals, hence the name of the water body.
