The Alassane Ouattara Bridge is a cable-stayed road bridge, connecting the Abidjan communes of Cocody and Plateau since 2023. It is the fifth bridge in the downtown area. The bridge design quotes the cathedral built by Italian architect Aldo Spirito in 1980, under the directive of Félix Houphouët-Boigny, founding President of the Côte d'Ivoire. The cathedral's cable-supported tower design matches the construction of the new Cocody bridge, named after current president Alassane Ouattara, who was the last prime minister under that founding president. It was built by China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) for $125 million.

Location of the seat of the current King, His Majesty King Nanan Kanga Assoumou, it is very popular with people who visit the village of Moossou. A visit to the interior of the palace, and an audience, are subject to reservations and payment. On the other hand, it is free to visit the exterior of this Royal Court by public road without reservation. During this visit, you can observe the bronze statues, the most famous of which is that of Queen Abla Pokou. The other statue is the representation of Queen Mother N’Moh Vajo. It is also from the latter that the name “Moossou” comes. For the record, it was in the 17th century, after the ravages of the slave trade in Ghana, that certain Akan peoples decided to migrate to Western Ghana (that is to say, to the Ivory Coast). Legend has it that it was the crows who helped King Aka Ahoba lead the Abouré people on their journey (you will also see representations of crows when you pass through the royal court). After their migration, the Abourés created the villages of Dibi, Aboisso, Wessebo and Ahabakro. The last city mentioned was the capital of the Kingdom.

The so-called “Esplanade” building, the work of architect Pierre Fakhoury, is an extension of the palace of the Presidency of the Republic, made necessary for the proper functioning of its services. Developing 27,600 m² of floor space, the project has four floors including a technical floor and three office floors resting on a monumental square, which houses four other levels of infrastructure. The premises include in particular the office of the President of the Republic, that of the Vice-President and the room of the Council of Ministers. The ground floor consists of a hall of approximately 260 m² accompanied by some annex rooms divided into two distinct volumes. Alternating voids and reflections, the facade of this level almost disappears, leaving it visually transparent. The infrastructure includes an interlocking program, including 300 parking spaces, two restaurants, sports halls and various archive and storage rooms. The restaurants benefit from a naturally lit south facade which opens onto a garden with a terrace. The construction measures approximately 100 meters long and its thickness, with variable geometry, ranges between 16 and 22 meters wide. The construction system is distinguished by a transfer of the loads of the “offices” part making it possible to free up the footprint of the building. This is made possible by bracing the recovery floor at the technical level on the mezzanine revealing a 20 meter overhang at each end of the building. The facades, entirely glazed, develop 3,400 m² of curtain wall. They read like a musical score, with their own vibrations that change depending on the angle of view and the light. In 2022 Alassane Ouattara, the President of the Republic, the Vice-President, and their collaborators as well as the majority of services operating at the presidential palace of the Plateau, have effectively moved from the old palace and moved to the Esplanade, the new building located opposite the former presidential palace. The old building will therefore be rehabilitated.
