Monte Forato Natural Arch

The coast of Monte Forato, between Cardoso and Fornovolasco, is of great beauty, although care must be taken when walking along it. From here, in fact, you can see from close range the famous "hole" in the rock that gives the mountain its name, a natural arch visible from both Versilia and Garfagnana.

Sentiero della Pineta della Feniglia

The Feniglia nature reserve extends over a seven-kilometer-long dune for a surface of 474 hectares that separates the open sea from the eastern lagoon of Orbetello.

The vegetation is composed of maritime pines, stone pines, cork oaks, holm oaks, sea lilies, junipers and shrubs of the Mediterranean scrub. The flora is instead composed of many deer, some wild boars, foxes, badgers, weasels and other rodents.

The entire reserve can be explored on foot or by bicycle on a dirt but beaten road and is an ideal itinerary to avoid having to travel along the Aurelia between Ansedonia and Orbetello.

Acquacheta Waterfall

The Acquacheta is the most important tributary of the Montone and before reaching San Benedetto in Alpe it makes a drop of over 70 metres.
The evocative beauty of the Acquacheta waterfall is due to the spectacular drop and the particular arrangement of the waters, which descend and branch out onto an imposing rocky outcrop with stratified steps with a succession of small waterfalls and steep slides.

Even the Lavane waterfall which is located immediately after 100 meters from the Acquacheta waterfall is an evocative sight: the water falls, flowing swooping down a smooth rock face, into an almost circular body of water, very deep and colorful bright green, bordered by rocks creating a spectacular natural swimming pool.

Viale dei Cipressi di Bolgheri

Intriguing combination of an incredibly straight asphalt strip and the double row of tall cypresses that accompany it up to the castle of Bolgheri. The avenue starts from the former state road 1 "Aurelia", near the small church of San Guido, and ends in the village of Bolgheri after 5 km slightly uphill. On both sides you can see the vineyards that produce some of the most valuable Italian wines: Sassicaia, Ornellaia, Guado al Tasso ...
Even if only for these reasons, it is worth going there.
For the Italians, in addition, there are the reminiscences of the poet Giosuè Carducci (Nobel Prize 1906) who dedicated his famous poem "Davanti a San Guido" to this avenue: “I cipressi che a Bólgheri alti e schietti van da San Guido in duplice filar…”
