Ολόκληρο το συγκρότημα περιβάλλεται από έναν τοίχο. Ο σκοπός αυτής της στοάς δεν έχει διευκρινιστεί μέχρι σήμερα. Εκτός των τειχών βρέθηκαν τάφοι προσκυνητών με χτένια του Αγίου Ιακώβου, γι' αυτό και η υπόθεση ότι ήταν και νεκροταφειακή παρεκκλήσι. Σε ένα έγγραφο αναφέρεται επίσης ένα νοσοκομείο του Τάγματος του Αγίου Ιωάννη, το οποίο υποτίθεται ότι βρισκόταν στην περιοχή. Ένας θρύλος λέει επίσης ότι είναι αντίγραφο του Αγίου Τάφου στην Ιερουσαλήμ και ανήκε στο Τάγμα των Ναϊτών.
