Cathédrale Saint-Pierre de Genève The architecture of the Saint Pierre Cathedral has undergone numerous changes over the course of history. The first construction phase dates back to 1160 and lasted almost a century. During the Reformation period, it served as a Protestant church from 1535. The strenuous climb up the 157 steps to the top of the tower is rewarded with a breathtaking 360° panoramic view of the city and the lake. The church also has the highest number of Romanesque and Gothic capitals in Switzerland. Beneath the cathedral is the archaeological excavation site, where remains from antiquity can be seen.
