Saint Peter is one of the most frequent patronages in the villages of France. First pope, chosen by Jesus to continue his work, he is also perceived as a sign of hope. Indeed, his reactions recounted in the 4 gospels are often within everyone's reach. Everyone easily identifies with Peter, he the simple fisherman from Galilee.

The parish of Pecqueuse is part of a whole called "The Pastoral Sector of Limours", a sector divided into three groups. Pecqueuse depends in particular on the Limours group. The Saint Médart church is open every first Saturday of the month at 6 p.m. in winter, 6:30 p.m. in summer for Sunday mass. It has existed, probably in wood since the 11th century. The current church, with a single nave, was built in several stages; the choir being the oldest part, probably from the 13th century, local style vaulted in a cul-de-four then enlarged at the end of the 15th century. The altar and the altarpiece date from the 18th century, the woodwork of the choir in gray and gold perhaps comes from the grand seminary of Versailles. The altar painted in faux marble is decorated with an imposing tabernacle, also painted in gray and gold.

This church in Limours was dedicated to Saint Peter (Saint Pierre). Simon, nicknamed Peter (Rock), was a fisherman on Lake Genesareth when he - together with his brother Andrew - was called by Jesus Christ to be a "fisher of men". According to Catholic understanding, he is the highest apostle, and the two thousand year long line of popes - currently Francis - are his successors. In statues and paintings, Peter is almost always depicted with two keys in his hand; this attribute refers to the Bible verse in Matthew: "I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven." (Chapter 16, Verse 19). Peter, together with Paul, is also known as the "prince of the apostles"; their common feast day in the calendar of saints is June 29th.
