    Edison und Ford Winter Estates
    Die Edison und Ford Winter Estates beherbergen ein historisches Museum und einen 8,5 Hektar großen botanischen Garten an den angrenzenden Standorten der Winterhäuser von Thomas Edison und Henry Ford am Caloosahatchee River im Südwesten Floridas.

    Am 18. April 2012 hat das Florida Chapter des American Institute of Architects die Edison und Ford Winter Estates auf die Liste der Florida Architecture: 100 Years gesetzt. 100 Plätze. Die American Chemical Society hat das Edison Botanical Research Laboratory in den Edison & Ford Winter Estates am 25. Mai 2014 als nationales historisches chemisches Wahrzeichen anerkannt.

    Der Besuch der Werkstatt und des Wohnhauses/Anwesens von Edison, dem Erfinder unter anderem der Glühbirne ist sehr interessant.
    Ein wunderschöner Garten und sehr gut erhaltene, typische Südstaatenhäuser mit herrlichen Verandas. Neben an, das Haus von Henry Ford, dem Freund von Edison.
    Man sollte unbedingt die Gelegenheit nutzen, das Edison Ford Winter Estates zu besuchen. Die Ausstellung und die Laboratorien bieten einen wunderbaren Einblick in das Leben und die Arbeit der beiden aussergewöhnlichen Menschen Edison und Ford. Die Audioführung wird auch in deutscher Sprache angeboten.

    1988 wurde das benachbarte Henry Ford-Winteranwesen gekauft und 1990 für öffentliche Besichtigungen geöffnet. 2003 wurde die Leitung des Geländes von der Stadt auf eine neue gemeinnützige Gesellschaft, Thomas Edison & Henry Ford Winter Estates, Inc., übertragen. ( dba Edison & Ford Winter Estates, Inc.). Das neue Unternehmen hat in den folgenden Jahren ein Restaurierungsprojekt im Wert von 14 Millionen US-Dollar erfolgreich abgeschlossen.
