    Der Brixner Domplatz ist für eine mittelalterliche Stadt recht groß. Der Bischof war als Stadtherr immer interessiert, dass der Platz nicht verbaut wird, um den Blick auf den Dom und den angrenzenden Bischofspalast nicht zu beeinträchtigen. Wenn im Mittelalter der Kaiser durchzog, konnten er und sein Gefolge auf dem geräumigen Platz ihre Zelte aufschlagen. Bis heute werden Prozessionen, Feiern und wichtige Veranstaltungen auf dem Domplatz abgehalten. Zur Weihnachtszeit herrscht am Christkindlmarkt reges Treiben.
