Viele der Steine sind mit Namen und Mythen verbunden und es gab 100 davon, als der Steinkreis vor 4.000 bis 5.000 Jahren errichtet wurde. In der Nähe liegen West Kennet Long Barrow, Silbury Hill (eine prähistorische Festung) und zahlreiche andere Menhire und Langhügel. You can walk freely among the massive stones of the Avebury Stone Circle, which encompasses part of the village itself.
