    In der zweiten Hälfte des 19. Jahrhunderts wurde angesichts des schlechten Zustands der Kirche Santa Margarida beschlossen, eine neue Kirche zu errichten. Eine erste Kirche wurde 1878 in der Nähe des alten Rathauses begonnen, aber nie fertiggestellt. Im Jahr 1918 wurde das Grundstück, auf dem sich der heutige Tempel befindet, erworben, und 1920 begannen die Arbeiten, die größtenteils zwischen 1924 und 1926 durchgeführt wurden, obwohl sie erst in den 1950er Jahren vollständig abgeschlossen wurden.
