    Historische Interpretation:
    Die 1850 errichtete Kongresssäule ist ein belgisches Denkmal schlechthin. Es wurde zu Ehren des ersten Nationalkongresses als Bestätigung der jungen belgischen Nation gegründet. Joseph Poelaert war der Architekt des prestigeträchtigen Denkmals.


    Die Säule erzählt uns die belgische Geschichte von September 1830 bis Juli 1831. Im unteren Teil des Sockels sind die eingravierten Namen der Bürger zu sehen, die die provisorische Regierung bildeten.

    Die 27 Artikel, in denen die wichtigsten Grundsätze der Verfassung dargelegt sind, sind auf der Vorderseite des Sockels eingraviert.
