    Das Fort in Uithoorn ist Teil der Verteidigungslinie von Amsterdam. Gelegentlich wird im Volksmund über Fort Amstelhoek gesprochen.

    Ab 1880 wurden rund um Amsterdam 45 Forts gebaut. Fort Amstelhoek bestand zunächst aus irdenen Mauern, und 1887 wurde es durch königlichen Erlass zum Bau einer Festung genehmigt.
    Unmittelbar neben und westlich der Festung befand sich ein Einlass für die Überflutung des heutigen Geländes. Östlich des Ringdijk Tweede Bedijking befindet sich noch ein kleiner See, und in der Vegetation, in der sich der Einlass und das Steinkippbett befanden, ist noch ein fächerförmiges Muster sichtbar.
