Daneben gilt der Waikiki Strand als Surferhotspot mit einem regen Nachtleben. Der Strand gewann bereits Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts an Bedeutung. Damals kürte die hawaiianische Königsfamilie die Küste Waikikis zur favorisierten Strandresidenz.
Der kilometerlange Strandabschnitt gliedert sich wiederum in acht andere Strände wie den Duke Kahanamoku Beach, den Fort DeRussy Beach Park und den San Souci Beach.
