    Als Teil des Hafens von Liverpool bildet das Canning Half Tide Dock die Verbindung von Canning Dock und Albert Dock und ist zudem der Eingang zum Trockendock. Über etwa 14 m lange Schleusentore wird der Flusswasserstand reguliert, der Zugang zur "Mauerwerkinsel" erfolgt über Drehbrücken. Angrenzend an das Dock befindet sich das ehemalige Lotsengebäude, welches im Jahr 1980 als Museum umgebaut wurde. Sowohl das Gebäude als auch das Dock selbst sind heute Teil des Merseyside Maritime Museum .
