    Die Brücke wurde in den Jahren 1775-1777 nach der sehr starken Flut von 1775 gebaut, als die ursprüngliche Miranda-Brücke zerstört wurde. Es verbindet die Altstadt oder das Viertel Aquende mit Allende - dem modernsten Viertel. Skulpturen von zwei Löwen wurden 1787 am Eingang von Allende aufgestellt. Einer der Löwen trägt das königliche Wappen, der andere das der Stadt.
