    Valmont ist untrennbar mit dem Impressionisten Eugène Delacroix verbunden, der mehrere Sommer hier verbrachte. In der Abtei malte er mehrere Aquarelle und Gemälde sowie die Abtei selbst. Das Bild der Abtei hängt heute im Louvre.

    Die Benediktinerinnenabtei wurde im Laufe ihrer Geschichte immer wieder zerstört und wieder aufgebaut. Die Abteikirche im Renaissance-Stil stürzte im 18. Jahrhundert ein und ist heute eine Ruine.
